How to book an AHCCCS (Medicaid) ride in Phoenix
Plan phone numbers, what to say, and what to do if a ride goes wrong.
AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid) covers non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) to covered health services when a member has no other way to get there. In Arizona there is no single statewide ride broker you call. You book through your AHCCCS health plan, and the plan arranges the transport company.
Step 1: Call your health plan's Member Services number
The number is on your insurance card. All six AHCCCS Complete Care plans serve Maricopa County:
| Health plan | Member Services |
|---|---|
| Arizona Complete Health – Complete Care Plan | 1-888-788-4408 |
| Banner–University Family Care | 1-800-582-8686 |
| Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Health Choice | 1-800-322-8670 |
| Mercy Care | 1-800-624-3879 |
| Molina Healthcare | 1-800-424-5891 |
| UnitedHealthcare Community Plan | 1-800-348-4058 |
Fee-for-Service members (not in a plan, including many American Indian Health Program members): AHCCCS Division of Fee-for-Service Management, 602-417-7670 or 1-800-794-6862.
Step 2: Have these details ready
- Appointment date, time, provider address and phone
- Pickup address and any special pickup spot
- Wheelchair, stretcher, walker or other device; oxygen or IV
- Whether you need help getting to the vehicle, a call on arrival, or a car seat
If something goes wrong
Call your health plan's customer service line and say you want to file a complaint or grievance. If it is not resolved, call the AHCCCS Clinical Resolution Unit at 602-364-4558 or 1-800-867-5308. For help choosing a plan, call an AHCCCS Beneficiary Support Specialist at 602-417-7100.
